MISSION IMpossible? Donnie Kamp and Greg
Pitchford have been working furiously to prepare for their
journey to Sudan to minister to the Dinka men/boys in the cattle
camps. They are training, receiving a series of inoculations,
and dealing with dozens of other little details. This trip has
many challenges, perhaps more than any other that has gone from
this congregation. What Donnie & Greg will see, hear, and face
will shock them, no matter how well prepared they are. The
exciting part is that we are still able to be a vital part of
this mission.
Here’s how:
1. We’ve already been a part of Whitney Prewitt’s ongoing work
in southern Sudan.
2. We’ve already provided the funds to purchase two round-trip
tickets to Sudan.
3. We can pray! We will be able to participate in a
‘round-the-clock prayer ministry that will
take place while Donnie & Greg are gone. We can pray at home,
work, or at the church building
(during normal “open” times.)
4. We can give! There will be a coupon board that will have
specific needs and their associated
costs. For example: one coupon might say “Living expenses for
one day in Sudan–$40.” If you are interested in giving that
amount, you can do so and have a clear picture how your gift is
being used.
5. We can adopt a Dinka! There will be a bulletin board with
names~pictures of actual Dinka
people for whom we can pray.
6. We can learn! Donnie & Greg will be happy to talk to your
Sunday School class, mission
group, or you personally as their schedules permit. There is an
amazing amount of material on the internet about southern Sudan,
the Dinka people, and the AIDS epidemic in that often-forgotten
part of the world. Education alone is not enough, but with
education comes the ability to make an eternal impact as God
enables you to see “these people” as “His people”. How
incredible it is that we are able to encourage Whitney and touch
the lives and hearts of the Dinka people from here in
Chillicothe, Missouri. God truly IS good!
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL - July 27 - 31
INFORMATION MEETING - for anyone concerned with VBS will be held
Wednesday, July 1 at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room. Teachers
may pick up their VBS materials at that time. Watch the hallway
bulletin board (near the nursery) for lots of information about
Vacation Bible School. A list of VBS workers has been posted on
the bulletin board. There are some open positions: van drivers,
nursery workers, and non-teaching positions; please contact Tena
if you can help. If you have signed up to work at VBS, please
check the list to be sure you have been listed in the correct
position. Order VBS t-shirts now, and pay later–sign up on the
bulletin board. Tena will be in the area near the bulletin board
after church service to answer any questions.
THANK YOU - You are such a blessing to us! We couldn’t have done
it without you! May God bless you today and always! With love,
signed with all the individual names of The Broken and Poured
Out Youth team and sponsors from Augusta, Kansas. (You can see
the card on the sanctuary foyer bulletin board.) |
